James 1:5
if any of you lack wisdom,let him ask god, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given to him.
Believers are to have an undivided faith asking for wisdom from an all generous God. when we as Christians become aware of the presents of god and how he is working in our faith wisdom will grow. but we must first ask and receive this so that we are gaining wisely. to many times i have thought you could attain wisdom by working and listening to members in society that were educated and wise. what i have come to find out is that you can attain wisdom by this action but this will be word wisdom, not spiritual wisdom that god grants us. as it says in Matthew 7:7 ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find it, knock and it will be opened for you. disciples should come to god in humility and awareness of need. James addresses the believer who lacks wisdom with trials in their lives. without trials we can not grow as Christians. during trials and tribulation we are being tested and assessed by Christ, this is the time that we are growing in our journey of faith and wisdom. if we are try to gain wisdom through being a servant we are missing the point of the value of wisdom. Wisdom is a god given and God centered discernment regarding the practical issues in life.
